About Achievement Balance

Autism Therapy Center & Day Camp

Children Always Bring Surprises…

When you decided to have a child, chances are great that you didn’t special-order a child with Autism or other developmental delays…..Children always bring surprises into their parents’ lives but children with disabilities bring more than their fair share of growth opportunities to their parents.

The first set of challenges is likely to involve seeking medical professionals. What can be done about the disability? Can I have a second opinion? What will the future hold for my child? So many questions and such a confusing time. Soon after the initial medical flurry comes the next set of questions: educating the child. The alphabet soup of IEPs (individualized education plans), Public Law 94-142, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-mandated accommodations, etc., is added to the newly mastered medical jargon of medical conditions and medications and treatments. Local, national, and online support groups of people with children with a  disability becomes the new mentors in navigating school and life.

Our goal is to provide quality, efficient and effective services to ensure positive outcomes for children, families and our community. We will work diligently to provide guidance, resources, advocacy and support that are appropriate for your child and family, while working in collaboration with the individual therapy team to successfully plan for your child’s future.

Every family should have a clear understanding of their choices.  We are here if you have any questions regarding services, support and assistance, we would love to help! We look forward to hearing from you soon.

ABC Mission Statement

About Achievement Balance Locations

Achievement Balance in Flowermound, TX

Parker Square (Flower Mound) and Trophy Club location

We have two dedicated locations for our early learners. Our early learners program is individualized and generally includes a focus on small (also called discrete) steps towards meeting objectives, an emphasis on understanding the function of behaviors. These programs are delivered in small groups and in one-to-one therapy settings. Generally, therapy is initially more intensive with a goal towards fading the intensity of the program and transitioning to less restrictive supports and services. With your child in mind we use positive reinforcement increase the likelihood that the child will respond appropriately, and to reward your child for good tries, or approximations, that are close to the correct response, this greatly increases the probability that the early learner will achieve the desired skills and this helps your child with their newly acquired positive behaviors to other natural settings.

Each location is prepared to meet a variety of needs, these may include; sensory regulation support, we meet this in our fully equipped sensory gym, speech, occupational and physical therapies. We are committed to meeting the needs of your early learner and your family.

  • We provide onsite parent training weekly
  • Video modeling for both the early learner and family
  • Grandparents training, so each member of the family can be successful
  • Advocacy for the next phase of your child’s development
  • Ongoing support, guidance and unwavering dedication to your child and family

Grapevine and Wager location (Flower Mound)

Achievement Balance transition program serves children that have an autism diagnosis that are ready for that next step in their transition in therapy. We offer a community-based program which provides your child the opportunity to learn generalized skills that are transferable to daily situational settings that may include a classroom environment.

Our team of professionals includes a BCBA, speech, occupational, physical therapist, licensed clinical social worker, diagnostician, and registered behavior technicians. Each member of the team partners with families to support and assist in developing readiness skills for the next step in your child’s development. Each child is placed in the appropriate working level after the initial assessment by our team and discussion with the family to determine the best course of action in setting your child up for success.

While your child participates in the transition program we utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and we specialize in behavior management, offering a positive behavior support approach to maladaptive behaviors that have prevented your child from being successful in a less restricted environment. Utilizing a team approach, clients are regularly assessed to determine skill acquisition and maintenance in accordance with their individual goals. ABC provides 1:3 staff to client support in the social environment unless otherwise specified in their treatment plan and 1:1 is implemented throughout the day to gain those individual skills for success.

Our Grapevine and Wager-Yucca locations also serve as a bridge program for those who have transitioned from the early intervention program and are not quite ready for the “less restrictive” programming. The bridge program is an inclusive program with a responsive, developmentally appropriate approach to child growth and learning. We provide individualized attention to support each child’s emerging communication and learning skills. We work on communication, sensory integration, social relatedness, gross and fine motor development, play and self-help skills.

Our program offers a safe natural step into the school environment and encourages individual growth and emerging social and communication skills.
